Rothesay Point, Highcliffe
On the Highcliffe seaside, a tiled pitched roof with too shallow a fall was letting in water in high winds, so we replaced it with a single ply system.
From Tiles to Single Ply on the Seafront
The existing tiled pitched roof was having numerous problems because of its degree of fall, which caused issues for the tile system and water ingress in high winds.
We stripped the roof of all tiles, roofing battens and breather membrane, then fitted new plywood and a bitumen backed vapour control layer. We then fitted 120mm PIR tissue faced insulation and fully adhered Alwitra single ply membrane to the insulation. We had to take into account the wind load calculations for a roof this high and this close to the waterfront, which meant following specific fixing points across each elevation to ensure the longevity and safety of the new system.
Around the low point perimeter edge of the roof we fitted aluminium membrane coated trim profiles for a neat finish.
