The Project

Removing a Faulty Felt Roof

The customer's roof had been built in felt, a material that is far less durable over time, and had not been installed correctly. This had led to condensation coming down into the house, and we were asked to remove and replace the existing roof to solve the problem.

The felt roof was covered in decorative stones, so we had to take extra care when pulling it up. Because it had been installed incorrectly, it was difficult to remove without further damaging the surrounding exterior. Water had also been sitting on the felt, as the existing surface did not allow it to run off, which made laying a new membrane more difficult.

Outcome

No More Standing Water

Our team transformed the roof, laying a brand new membrane roof with timber support. The timber was installed where the felt had originally been and made a strong foundation for the new roof surface.

To avoid a repeat of the standing water, we installed the new flat roof at a slight incline so that water runs off it easily. This also prevents the condensation issue from recurring. The client was fully satisfied with the installation.
