A client in Christchurch asked us to replace an EPDM rubber roof, installed by another company six months earlier, that was not keeping their property watertight.
Replacing a Failed EPDM Roof
We often meet customers who have previously dealt with another roofing company and are unhappy with the result. This client had an EPDM rubber roof installed around six months before contacting us and found it was not waterproofing their property correctly. As no qualifications are required to install EPDM roofing, we see this often. They asked our trained and certified roofing specialists to replace the rubber roof with a single ply option better suited to the job.
The challenge was making sure everything was waterproofed correctly to stop moisture reaching the interior. The roof also supports a skylight, which had to be incorporated correctly to prevent condensation getting inside.

A Roof Suited to the Job
We removed the original roof entirely and replaced it with a single ply membrane. We also removed a section of the cladding to weatherproof in behind, then re-installed the cladding correctly and locked down and sealed the membrane to stop water getting through. Once the work was complete, we carried out a final inspection before handing over to the client.
