Care Home, 8 Old Castle Road
A 200m² main warm roof, three warm roof dormers and a 50m² rear first floor roof for a care home in Salisbury, all in Alwitra 1.2mm VSK single ply.
Three Roof Areas at a Salisbury Care Home
The 200m² main warm roof was insulated with 200mm tissue-faced insulation to achieve a 0.11 U-value. The build-up starts with a Visqueen Vapour Check VCL to remove the risk of interstitial condensation within the structure. The 200mm insulation boards were mechanically fixed to the 18mm plywood substrate using 75mm insulated tubes and carbon fibre fixings, and Alwitra 1.2mm VSK single ply membrane was fully adhered to the boards.
The three 5m² warm roof dormers follow the same build-up with 150mm tissue-faced insulation to achieve a 0.15 U-value, again with Alwitra 1.2mm VSK fully adhered to the insulation and lead profiles fully heat-welded to the membrane.
On the 50m² rear first floor roof, the Alwitra VSK membrane was fully adhered straight to the 18mm plywood substrate. The terrace was finished with perimeter drop-down gutters and 70mm S-Type Alwitra flange outlets into designated outlets.
