Branders Lane, Christchurch
A roof replacement in Christchurch, where a poorly installed felt roof had begun to fail soon after the client bought the property.
Replacing a Failing Felt Roof
The client had a survey carried out on the property before she bought it, so she knew about the underlying problems caused by the poorly installed felt roof, which was now failing. She contacted us to put them right, and we agreed that a full replacement was the best way to prevent future problems and ensure longevity and performance.
The existing felt roof was failing badly, with sections of blistering and water trapped under the felt system. We carried out a complete strip-off down to the existing joists and insulation, which we found to be in fairly good condition. We installed new 18mm marine plywood on the existing joists and created a new opening for the skylight, then fully adhered Evalon VSK to the new ply substrate.
Removing the old ridge tiles allowed us to re-ply and membrane the parapet wall. Once this was complete, the existing ridges were reinstalled.
