Bournemouth International Centre
As part of the refurbishment of the Bournemouth International Centre, we supplied and installed a full new flat roof system and a wildflower living roof.
Refurbishing the BIC
Following previous projects with BCP Council, we were asked to work on the refurbishment of the Bournemouth International Centre. This was part of extensive works to upgrade and renew the BIC, including a new rear entrance to the complex and the ice-skating rink.
We supplied and installed the full new flat roof system and the new wildflower living roof, and completed various repairs on other roof areas of the building. The roof build-up was a plywood deck, vapour control layer, PIR tissue-faced insulation, Alwitra VSK single ply membrane system and a wildflower sedum green roof system.

A Living Roof for the New Entrance
Instead of the usual gravel stone perimeter border, we installed walkway paving slabs. As the roof was built on a pitch, we installed a retention system into the wildflower roof to hold it in position.
The wildflower seeds take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to start growing, after which the roof will form part of the new entrance to the building.
