Bournemouth Warm Roof Extension
A warm roof for a brand-new extension in Bournemouth, designed to take a new skylight that brings more natural light into the space.
A Warm Roof Built Around a Skylight
The occupants of the property asked us to create a warm roof as part of a brand-new extension. From the outset we were aware that the flow of natural light through the extension was not as good as it could be, so we suggested installing a skylight, and the roof was designed to take this into account.
The main challenge was designing the roof to prevent condensation building up inside, with the skylight itself a potential source of condensation. The roof also needed to be well insulated to keep a comfortable internal environment, and the skylight had to be waterproofed against the elements.

Dry, Bright and Guaranteed
Once the timber work was completed, our team laid a vapour control layer sheet to prevent condensation and protect the interior from unwanted moisture. We then fitted 120mm thick insulation boards and finished the roof with a single ply membrane fully adhered to the boards.
Finally, the skylight was installed along with a waterproofing membrane designed to keep out heavy rain and snowfall. The client was pleased with the outcome, and a 20-year guarantee covers the entire roofing system.
